Scrutineers are a unique brand of people who perform a vital role within the motor sport community to ensure that Motor Sport Australia regulations and standards are adhered to. Another important aspect of the role is as an advisor - particularly for newcomers to the sport, on how to best go about preparing and using the equipment that is vital to ensuring that safety is of the highest priority. Vehicles and associated equipment, including apparel, are examined during the build and then on a pre-event basis so that Motor Sport Australia requirements are met.

Scrutineers work closely with event organisers, Motor Sport Australia, Clerks of Course, Stewards and Technical Managers before, during and after events - performing inspections, providing reports and documentation as required and on many occasions get to rub shoulders with the celebrity drivers both from National and International circles, something many other officials are envious of.
